East Nashville Catering picks –

Classic Southern Catering: Edley’s BBQ

Why:

A true Nashville classic, Edley’s has been voted as Best Bar-B-Que in Nashville by Nashville Scene readers multiple times. Not only is their food delicious, but they show their love for the community. When East Nashville was hit by a tornado in 2020, Edley’s served free meals to those who suffered damage from the storm, to first responders, and to anyone hungry in the East Nashville community. Once again, one year later on the anniversary of the tornado, Edley’s handed out free pork sandwiches to the East Nashville community to say “Thank ‘Que”. Their passion for the communities they feed seeps into the comforting flavors of their homestyle food.

Elevated Farm Fresh Catering: In Good Company

Why:

To serve up something a little elevated from typical catering aluminum tins, choose IGC. From the quality of their farm fresh food to the impeccable presentation, you are sure to satisfy a hard-to-please crowd (zero judgment, I’m talking about myself too). Owner and founder Courtney KcKay listens to your needs and whips up an in-season gourmet menu guarantee to delight. Another neighborhood gem, IGC opened their doors to serve free burritos for those affected by the tornado in 2020. You can also meet them at local farmers markets to pick up their top-notch to-go items. Additionally, their brick-and-mortar store at the Shoppes on Fatherland includes other delicious creations from locally cherished chefs, bakers, and pit masters.

What to order:

Charcuterie, grazing table, literally whatever they suggest to you

New York Deli Catering: Shep’s Delicatessen

Why:

Anyone who has lived in New York City knows bagels from anywhere else pale in comparison. However, bagels from Shep’s Deli come as close as humanly possible to fill the “toasted with schmear” hole—especially in our city where biscuits and gravy are our forté. Bagels aside, their other menu items are deli-ghtfully delicious as well. Owner and Nashville transplant, Howard Greenstone learned the art of Jewish cuisine from his family in New Jersey and local delis in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. But one bite of Shep’s fare could tell you all that.

Where:

1000 Main Street, Nashville, TN 37206

What to order:

classic schmear and lox, potato latkes, Reuben sandwich

Greek Street Food Catering: Greko

Why:

Did you know Nashville is the Athens of the South? A hub for higher education since the mid 19th century and home to the only full-scale replica of the Parthenon, the only piece missing from Nashville’s tie to Greece was proper Greek street food—that is, until the Darsino family stepped in. Bringing their Greek roots to the table, GReKo uses fresh quality ingredients and family heirloom recipes to replicate the authentic Greek street food from their home village of Nemea.

Where:

704 Main Street, Nashville, TN 37206 — right across from our coworking campus!

What to order:

GReKo street fries, souvlaki skewers, pita bread and hummus

Nashville Hot Chicken Catering: Hattie B’s

Why:

Basic Southern cuisine with a fiery flare (optional), Hattie B’s checks all the catered comfort food boxes. Now a treasured nation-wide chain, Hattie B’s originated in the heart of Nashville. Family-run Hattie B’s tips its hat to Prince’s Hot Chicken as the first culinary pioneers of the famous flaming foul; however, Hattie B’s reigns catering king for Nashville hot chicken.

Where:

Multiple locations

What to order:

Chicken sandwich, baked beans, pimento mac & cheese
