From a runway show to a film festival, music video shoots, weddings and corporate events, Studio 615 has already made a splash as a versatile Nashville event space.
The space options now include The Grove, a new outdoor setting, that hosts its first wedding in November. The space, which features canopy string lighting and a custom iron fence with accent lighting, can accommodate up to 200 people seated and 350 standing.
“We’ve succeeded in creating a unique venue for all kinds of Nashville events, but the demand for great outdoor spaces with easy parking became very clear,” said Christian Paro, developer and owner of Studio 615 and Center 615, a cluster of buildings with coworking and offices.
In just over a year, the venue has hosted an unusually diverse event lineup. Cage the Elephant played a show sponsored by Tumblr. Revlon booked the studio for a photo shoot with Carrie Underwood. The star loved the swanky green room so much she used it rather than her personal trailer.
The Studio 615 Event Hall has hosted a Nashville Fashion Week runway show and the Defy Film Festival, among other happenings.
Studio 615 provides a “blank canvas” that Nashville event planners say allows them to create any vibe they and their clients want. They credit the Studio’s large, white cyclorama space and industry-leading lighting, secured by Make It Pop, an agency that runs the Studio in partnership with Paro. The lights accommodate photo shoots and video production as well as events of all kind.
Ample free, on-site parking is a plus, too, they say.
“From load-in capabilities to roll-up doors, it is a one-stop shop with great parking,” said longtime event planner Vincent Dreffs and head of Dreffs for Success. “They could do everything we asked for.”
Dreffs opted for a high-end, sophisticated South Beach atmosphere for a meeting he planned for the Nashville Chapter of the National Association of Catering and Events. Guests relaxed in cool white sofas and club chairs.
The venue is in Nashville’s Inglewood neighborhood and an easy, short hop from Music City’s increasingly crowded downtown. In addition to the 4,000-square foot white room, Studio 615 has a covered deck, reinforced sound system and well-appointed green rooms.
Since opening in May 2015, the Studio has hosted more than 15 music video shoots. Artists have ranged from Corb Lund and Old Dominion (country), from Paper Route (indie rock) to Yelawolf (hip hop), and Citizen Way, Unspoken, Tim Timmons and 1 Girl Nation (contemporary Christian). Amos Lee, The 3am Band, Cimorelli and Lifeway are among others.
Five fashion designers showcased their work at the Nashville Fashion week event, and the Studio’s lighting could create five distinct moods depending on the line, said organizer Mike Smith.
“Everyone just loved it,” he said. “The space is great and the level of customer service is fantastic.”
Word is getting out, too, about the space as a flexible Nashville wedding venue. Amos Gott, who organized an event for Planters Bank at Studio 615, said another client who planned an industrial brick-wall Sunday brunch wedding changed his mind after touring the location. The new plan is a Saturday night affair with a high-end cocktail lounge feel.
