East Nashville is a creative and vibrant district of the city that sometimes gets overshadowed by the popularity of Music City’s more popular tourist destinations. But to locals and visitors alike, the Five Points Neighborhood in East Nashville is an unbeatable place to visit or call home base for their work.
Five Point Vibes
You might be wondering: why is it called Five Points in Nashville? The neighborhood gets its nickname from its location, where the five-pointed intersection of Woodland Street, North 11th Street, and Clearview Avenue sits in East Nashville. There are Five Points neighborhoods in multiple other cities, but what sets Nashville’s apart are its eclectic vibes and superb walkability. This bustling area is relatively young, built on the back of a much older part of the city. As a result, the area maintains a higher focus on foot traffic over vehicles, and people who are shaping the future of the area are heavily focused on maintaining Five Points as a pedestrian-friendly, urban oasis.
Nashville’s Five Points neighborhood can’t escape Nashville’s overpowering musicality, but unlike downtown’s Music Row, the creativity here is much more diverse. Residents have a broad range of tastes that have shaped this area into a unique and interesting departure from what initially put Nashville on the map. One of the things the area is most known for is just how many restaurants and bars are packed into the relatively small footprint that the neighborhood takes up. From incredible breakfast spots and cafes to high-end eateries and late-night pubs, the eating and drinking you can do here are top-notch.
What to Do in the Five Points Neighborhood
We’ve talked at length before about how many places there are to eat in East Nashville’s Five Points, but we still haven’t covered everything you can do here. When it comes to shopping, dining, and even creating, Five Points is a diverse section of an already very diverse city. If you’re planning to take on the neighborhood and go all day, you need to fuel up with some caffeine. Fortunately for you, there are several excellent coffee shops spread throughout Five Points that can all help you get the morning (or afternoon) boost you need. Bongo Java East is a coffee shop and board game cafe with almost as many java options as there are versions of Monopoly. If you’re looking for a quick cup to go, East Parks Donuts & Coffee is the place to be. And we dare you to just get coffee once you smell what sweet treats they’re making from scratch every day. Who doesn’t love donuts?
Much like the rest of Nashville, the Five Points neighborhood boasts a number of popular bars, taverns, and pubs where you can try some of the best beers, spirits, and wines made right here in Music City. If you’re looking for a bar with a fun experience, head over to The Lipstick Lounge for some high-quality liquor, cigars, and most importantly, karaoke. Want more low-key vibes? You can’t go wrong grabbing some beers at Five Points Beer Garden. Found within Buds & Brew East, this casual beer garden boasts 40-plus beers on tap, ranging from local favorites to popular foreign and domestic picks.
While it’s certainly popular for its nightlife activities, Five Points also has a lot for families and children to do during the day. Stop by Fairytales Bookstore at our very own Five Points Alley Shops to browse hundreds of unique children’s books, pick up toys and games for a fun weekend activity, or just absorb the sights and sounds of this small but mighty bookstore. If a walk through Five Points isn’t enough activity for you and your little ones, take them to Shelby Bottoms Greenway! This park is almost 1,000 acres of nature, with primitive trails for the adventurous hiker or paved paths for easy navigation. This park has something for everyone and is a great place to soak up the natural beauty of East Nashville.
Working in Five Points
The Five Points aren’t just for having fun and grabbing excellent grub; the neighborhood is also home to a wonderful workspace that presents Nashville creatives and startups with a unique place to be productive. Center 615 is a coworking space that sits right in the middle of this bustling neighborhood, and we couldn’t be happier to be here. C615 prides itself on the community we foster inside and outside of our campus, and the Five Points neighborhood has been a better home than we could have imagined for getting work done and fostering creativity.
If you’re not familiar with coworking, we can explain it quickly. Our dog-friendly campus has a large, open-concept workplace where members pay a fee to have access to work anywhere they’d like. We have desks, open spaces, and all kinds of little corners and nooks to settle into for the day. In addition to open coworking spaces, Center 615 also has private office rentals and meeting rooms for rent that anybody, from one-person startups to companies with more than 75 people, can call their workspaces.
We offer a ton of amenities that we know can help everyone put their best foot forward. Start your morning with free on-site parking and free coffee and tea in the breakrooms, and get everything done in one place with our mail and package receiving and complimentary notary services, all right here on our central campus. Enjoy 24/7 access to your workspace at C615, too, so no matter when you’re in the Five Points, you’re able to stop in and get some work done. And when you need to head out to grab lunch or breakfast, you already know you’ve got a broad variety of options. We aren’t just a workspace; the Five Points Alley Shops are your one-stop destination for food, gifts, and clothing that Center 615 put together. These independently owned and operated shops are just one of the ways we work to make this community even better.
